I have some dietary requirements can I still go on the tour?
Yes, we’d love you to join us. Please let us know when you make your booking if you have any dietary requirements and we will check with our selected food suppliers. Remember: most beer has gluten in it.
Are we expected to leave a service tip?
The services of our driver and tour guide are fully included. Tipping is not necessary in NZ unless you feel outstanding service has been given.
Can we bring our children along?
We welcome children as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, but the younger ones may find the brewery tours a little boring, so we do recommend a minimum age of 10. Guests under the age of 18 are charged a slightly lower rate as we will only provide lunch and alcohol-free drinks but they still occupy a seat on the bus.
Can I stay on at particular venue we visit?
In order that we can fit in an extensive range of food and beer destinations, we do have a timetable to keep to throughout the day. Your tour guide will advise you on the maximum length of time allowed at each venue. If you particularly wish to remain somewhere that suits you perfectly (staying for your evening meal for example), just let your tour guide know and they will continue the remaining tour without you. Taxis are readily available in Christchurch.
What do I need to wear?
Wear something weather-appropriate. Do bear in mind that breweries are industrial buildings so they can get chilly. We recommend you dress in layers. Our vehicles having heating and air conditioning. You won’t be doing a large amount of walking but we recommend sturdy lowheeled shoes as breweries often have yards to cross, puddles (of water, not beer), and perforated metal industrial stairs to climb.
Should I bring anything?
Bring your camera to picture all the beer and delicious food you’ll be tasting but please be respective of any premises which ask you not to take photographs inside. Consider bringing a form of payment as you may wish to purchase items of memorabilia for friends back home. Or yourself. Many venues sell branded beer flagons, growlers, and other containers which make excellent presents along with tshirts, caps and other merchandise.
Which breweries will we visit?
We have a number of breweries and pubs on our circuits. Which we visit depends on varying factors, including the day of the week and our knowledge of how busy they are. We may vary the itinerary at short notice to accommodate our friends who run the breweries and pubs. Rest assured, the beer and food will be good quality wherever we go.
Where do we get picked up and dropped off?
We normally pick you up and drop you off outside the Canterbury Museum on Rolleston Avenue but we also visit almost all city centre hotels (i.e. within the four avenues) for free pick up and drop off. If your accommodation is further afield, we may still be able to collect you – please ask us.
How many people are in a tour group?
Our tours operate with a minimum of three guests and maximum of ten (our minibuses seat 10 passengers plus driver). You will generally be on a tour with other guests which we believe adds to the fun by getting to meet other, beer-loving, like minded folks. Larger group bookings can be made – please enquire for rates.
Can we book a corporate day out?
Absolutely. We are developing a range of special tours which will also incorporate a selection of fun activities. We’re deliberately being vague at this stage but just get in touch and we’ll throw some ideas at you. Promise it won’t hurt.
